I've been working in a small studio and I enjoy it because it gives you an opportunity to build a rapport with clients and bounce ideas off other people from different backgrounds. However not being able to choose what kinds of work I take on has began to grate away at me as we were more of a smaller independent studio when I started, and now we are moving in the direction of becoming a bigger agency with more corporate jobs.

When I began it was just 3 of us, and we then expanded to 5 - 6 which was enjoyable. We are now scaling upwards of 9 and I am noticing more and more hierarchical BS taking up my time designing, and less freedom to be creative. So depends what you are after, but I am scared to take the leap to freelance because I'm a bit of a stress head about money (and having a steady pay cheque keeps my anxiety at bay)
