MetalFX® Products
What is MetalFX®?
MetalFX® Technology is a revolutionary printing process that can be used to produce up to 104 million metallic colours in one pass of a five-colour press. This enables the choice of an unlimited range of metallic colours, without the expense of multiple spot colour inks!
The MetalFX® colour system requires only one extra ink: Specially formulated brilliant silver.
This MetalFX® Silver Base Ink is the first colour down on press, with CMYK then overprinted. The transparency of the Hostmann-Steinberg MFX process colours allows the high luster silver to show through, creating a whole new spectrum of vibrant metallics. The MetalFX ® Silver Base Ink is available in standard, non-leafing, and premium to suit all designs and applications. By using varied levels of the MetalFX® Silver Base Ink, stunning visual effects can be created.
For Printers & Pre-press houses …
MetalFX® Licensed Pre-Press Houses and Printers have exclusive access to this new metallic colour system – which has been developed for ease of implementation into any organization’s workflow.
This licensing system ensures a high quality standard for MetalFX® technology worldwide. Each licensed pre-press house and printer listed at www.metal-fx.com has passed a quality trial. Once licensed, pre-press houses and printers receive the MetalFX Kit (including MFX software, test grid CD, MFX swatch books, and User Guide), a set of Hostmann-Steinberg inks, as well as technical support.
For Designers…
The MetalFX® Design Kit enables designers to add colour dimension and impact by integrating the thousands of metallic colours and SpecialFX into artwork, in the knowledge that they can be printed easily using only five colours.
The MetalFX® plug-ins are available on the software CD, as part of the MetalFX Design Kit. MFX is compatible with Mac and PC, and all industry standard application programs, such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, QuarkXpress and more.
In today’s competitive environment, MetalFX® gives printers a unique point of difference.
