    Great article.

For me it's not the fact that I can't draw. I know the skill is there. I've drawn a lot. But, I simply do not practice. I need to get into the habit of forcing myself to draw everyday or every other day.

    Hell, regularly. PERIOD.

Imho everyone is capable of drawing - but sometimes it takes a lot of time and effort... Its not about talent (saying that everyone can draw, but if you have talent for drawing, you will learn faster than someone who doesnt).

    i agree, everybody can draw.
it just takes times to improve. just need to practice more and more.

i wish to share my experience.
years ago, when I was attending to a drawing course for the graduate education exam, I saw people who even cannot draw a stick man, literally. And they all learned life drawing with true perspective after months of practice.. some learnt in 4 months, some learnt in 6 months.. so it is possible.

but the bitter fact is, if you are naturally gifted and have it in your genes, than you can even learn in 2 weeks..

still at the end, everybody can draw who really want to learn it.

Spend too much time letting the computer draw and not enough pen to paper time. Think I'm going to go find that pen and paper right now tho :)

I have to agree with a post above really

"My excuse is being too lazy to practice. Every once in a while I'll get a spark of inspiration, purchase a few books on the subject etc., try for a few days, get frustrated and forget about it. Oh well... maybe I should do it again soon :)"

Though ive recently saw a nice tablet that nearly tempted me but im a little unsure still.

Does being left handed help :P ?

What a good article. I can draw, but as the years go by, I find myself doing it less and less (roughing more things out on the computer), and when I do draw, I feel rusty. There are some good resources here to freshen up your mind. Thanks!

i strongly suggest to handle drawing with pen an paper first, before jumping into a wacom tablet.

the response you got from a tablet (even from a cintiq) is totally different. so if you even don't have a familiarity to pen&paper drawing, it will be more difficult get desired results.

drawing is just a skill... and can be trained!
Thing is, people think drawing is just a motor skill, that it's just about hand ability.
    It's not!
A big part of being able to draw is observation. How do you process what you see in order to draw it? It's from that conversion that can result a good or a poor representation.

Starting with something simple always helps to prevent frustation.
And, as with most things: practice, practice, practice...

yes my excuse always about time...
meanwhile i believe everyone can do what they want to do XD

but they don't have to...I think building a style than actually having a skill at something is more crucial...

but building a style almost impossible without a skill tho.. XP
like picasso actually mastered realism before he took off and explore..

I believe for those who said don't have "artistic" ability just didn't practice their eye..
can't we all start from imitating?
