What's the best Illustrator alternative out there?

How about Affinity Designer? I heard good things about it.

yeah, affinity seems to be the top choice as an alternative. i also know if you happen to have an ipad, it is obviously a barebones application with the more basic tools, but inkpad is a great free ipad app that you can import svg's, custom fonts, etc.

also may want to explore these suggestions:

Sketch is a nice alternative. Especially if you work with UI design and own a mac.

Theres a brand new vector/illustrating software I was reading about a couple of months ago. I'll link it back once I can find it again. Best bet would be to play around with all the ones mentioned and see whats best for you.

IMO, Inkscape would be the best alternative if price is an issue. If price is not an issue then Illustrator. If learning curve is an issue then CorelDraw, if you don't mind the format being less portable.

Adobe Ideas is a free vector app for your phone. It links with your CC account though to get the files. Not sure if there's a workaround.

Smashingmag did a review of 20 different vector programs too.

I concur with those suggesting Sketch or Affinity Designer (if you're using a Mac, obviously).
