Hey, is it normal that you cant finetune / tweak the settings for the interactive tracing option in illustrator anymore? I can only directly click the button

What do you mean exactly? You are talking abotu "livetrace" right? You should be able to fine tune it. Are you using CC edition or still on CS6?

    Hi. Thanks for your reply.

I am talking about the Livetrace option. I was previously using CS5.5 where it would show a dialogue window with plenty of settings and sliders allowing me to edit the tracing effect. Now in CC it only gives me one dropdown with presets but it just goes right at it and traces it before i can do any further adjusting?!

Hmm, I stayed with CS6 but i doubt there would be such drastic changes to CC such as removing the possibility to further edit livetrace. Could you put up some screenshots?
There is no "advance" button once you open the dialogue box?

After you click on "Image Trace", search for "Image Trace Panel" in the same above menu bar.

After you do an image trace, there's a button on the control bar at the top (to the left of View:) that gives you all the various fine-tune options. That pops out the Image Trace toolbox, and you can unfurl the 'advanced' dropdown if you need more control.

Yeah, the options palette for Image Trace (formerly Live Trace) got kind of hidden for CC/CC2014 but it's still there. Damn you Adobe!

Next to the Image Trace button is a drop down arrow so you can select a preset, which are also manageable so you can create your own. To be honest, this easy access to presets and the cleaner interface of keeping the options palette hidden unless needed is welcomed. Once I found the palette it was all good.
