Everybody I know uses Adobe-products (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop...). Never heard of anybody using CorelDraw to create Logos for example.

Corel products are big in the government. I know at least with WordPerfect it has something to do with security issues.

I like Adobe products as much as any designer does -- and their ability to work together seamlessly is a huge plus. But I will use whatever gets the job done. I feel like there are good and bad things about any program, and some have features that others don't. I think that as a designer and/or artist you can make use of any software and create your desired outcome. It just depends on what you have in mind. I like taking different approaches to things, because when everybody uses the same tools after a while everyone's work looks the same. I haven't used CorelDraw in a few years, but I've used everything -- Paintshop Pro, Painter, ULEAD Cool 3D and even hand drawing things to make work more unique.

From what I hear, Photoshop proves the same functionality as Painter. Painter is packaged and presented more "artistically," I guess.

I rarely run into anyone using CorelDraw. I work in wide format printing, occasionally I will have someone supply me artwork in that format, which is the only reason I have it installed.

I know a lot of people who work in steel fabrication (channel letters, etc) use coreldraw.

    Never Used it

Being a relatively new designer, I have never met anyone who does nor have I used it myself!

Would be fun to mess around and compare Corel to Adobe (master race )

    Not really true.

Those new to the craft still use CorelDraw. Illustrator has not yet made its paths friendly enough to newbies without certain plugins.
