I'm not a professional, but I know quite a few, and they all use Illustrator and InDesign. I used to use CorelDraw back in the late 90's, but I don't think I've touched it since about 2000.

Me and most of my designer acquaintances have long since switched to Adobe but i still have to have CorelDraw installed since I often get material in .cdr format and I need to use CorelDraw to convert it to.ai or pdf.

Artists or Designers will use whatever they prefer, it is just a tool. I think a professional can use any application and do a proficient job.

All the product of adobe are in the mainstream, and very awesome. Very few people use them.

Matter of habit, I often use CorelDraw for making logos. Illustrator for large format prints.

i don't use corel, i've never use it. ( quiet hate it too)
    i'd choose illustrator.
it's true when designer don't use corel anymore.
but when i bring my pdf file to print out visit card, people there always redo my word in corel , i don't understand.
maybe i need to bring eps file.

On my side, some of my colleagues are still using it for the sake of speed layout. It's shortcuts like the easy alignment of texts are what makes them stay on the program.
