people said that coreldraw is illustrator without photoshop (they said illustrator is coreldraw + photoshop)
i think illustrator is more difficult than coreldraw

Regarding drawing, the industry standards for graphic designers are Adobe Illustrator/ Photoshop. Corel products are used more often by concept artists.

It can be a problem if you are sharing files with people who do not use CorelDraw, as it is no longer an industry standard. I've never seen any use it, but if it works for you, more power to you.

Corel also produces has the top-notch Painter program, which simulates different types of painting. Regarding CorelDraw, it depends on what illustrators and graphic designers got used to. I know it's quite used in print production (digital & offset printing), DTP, signage production etc. Nowadays, Illustrator tends to be used more, as it integrates seamlessly with Photoshop, InDesign, and other Adobe products, which share a similar interface, shortcuts etc.

If you have to work with many companies and designers, Adobe is the default.
Lots of hate out there for Corel.
Used Corel in the old days and loved it. It had features 10 years ago that Illustrator is still missing today or barely catching up ! But I don't use it anymore.

And Freehand was also great before Adobe swallowed it and kill it.

i've never used or been taught to use coreldraw. but do what you want to do. i don't think it matters too much. unless you're in a team environment. don't go rogue.

For different tasks - different applications. Some of polygraphy designers sad, what CoralDraw is not true app. But it's mistake, especially after Corel start to use Adobe CMS in CorelDRAW X5.
