    Cool

just get good enough and famous enough that you can say to them. "This is the , you have no other options. If you don't like it, get some else."

Is an age-old question! There is no definitive answer! But only experience will make you choose! In general, the customer must be polite, but it is difficult to have the time and inclination. Give reasons for your choices, always.

    I like sammy6000's reply!

In a way, it's their my...

But you should really be happy with all designs you submit for client review. Don't give them something crap that you're hoping they'll dismiss, because... murphy's law.

Oh, and if you do have a favourite, never show it first. You want to set the bar, and then jump over it.

at our agency we create just
because designing is custommade tailored work

but i do know most companies will do several propositions :)
just try if you can be part of the presentation and argumentation part of the proposal
so they can feel why something is better

Don't persuade them, educate them. Don't get angry with them, let them know you are an intellectual and let them know why some designs are stronger than others. Some clients will be dead set on a certain font for their logo (pun intended) but it happens to be Comic Sans or god forbid Lucida Calligraphy. Educate them, educate them, educate them.

Try presenting each concept and make sure you include your comments and opinion on each design . Usually clients will go with what you are saying based on opinion because YOU are the expert. Hope that helps

I read that Stefan Sagmeister only shows option, cause he thinks that is it lazy for a designer to make the client choose the best . That should be also a task for the designer.

I think that there is some method to Stefan's madness as I have sometimes also only presented a single option and the client usually loves it. When I show them too many options I think it confuses them and then most of the time they ask for more options which kind of defeats the object as it devalues the job.

All you can do is try your best to fully explain all of your concepts, and make sure you point out why you believe to be superior. If you can somehow tie it to increased revenue for them chances are good that they'll agree with you. Some clients are wonderful and easy to deal with; others are, well, not.
