this is by far the only graphic design application beside Adobe family that should exist.

I used to be solely Quark but had to learn InDesign at a company I was working for when the first version came out. Now it's all I use. Much more intuitive and user friendly plus it's evolved much more than Quark.

When DTP first arrived quark xpress was the only serious program, pagemaker was its only competition - which I *think* was eventually bought by Adobe and evolved into indesign.
Quark was and still is extremely powerful with a relatively simple interface. When indesign first appeared a lot of designers were scared by its over complicated ui.

Today indesign's ui has simplified to match photoshop and illustrator while quark is pretty much the same. The use of either application now comes down to personal preference. I use both but which app I use comes down to the client and job.

I think I'd go with InDesign.

Quark was a nice for a little while - and then I used InDesign lol. Much better software, in my opinion.
