both are good. quark is a little easier and faster to master IMO but indesign has a lot more features that can save time. learning both at this stage is wise decision.

Quark was always the standard where I worked but over the years more and more are using InDesign for the most part because of the integration with the rest of the Adobe products

I never used Quark. Indesign is not bad at all, but sometimes I don't get why adobe made so much different shortcuts to other programs from the cs.

Was a long time Quark user until 2010 but Indesign is so much better, the integration with the other CC applications is superb. Quark must be struggling now as no I know in the industry uses them

It's not like Quark is a bad program. But the Adobe suite is where all the action is. I assume Indesign has dynamic linking with Photoshop and Illustrator.

Quark use the be the standard, I find myself using InDesign now. It's included in the CS suite, so it makes it a no brainer for me.

With Adobe switch to cc and monthly payments Quark can stage a comeback, think of Quark as a solid car reliable, economical but boring and until recently weary basic. IMHO InDesign makes it easier and faster to design and create. Quark still make you jump thru hoops to do simplest things like edit colors, etc. Short answer learn both, newer now where you will end up.
