Indesign is a beast ... but I've just realized especially for book layouts, you can just use quite imposing to set up all your pages without having to do it all in indesign

After there were Indesign CS5 versions, CS6, CC, I forgot Quark as a bad dream. Never more to it I will return.

The CC, it's monthly fees AND the fact that you will no longer be able to open your documents after having stopped paying will certainly make Adobe become a much worst and bitter dream!!!

I've started with Quark Xpress and I moved then to Indesign. Maybe Quark was easier to use at that time...

    Red face Indesign!

I've worked with both programs for years and each has its pros and cons. Lately, I've decided to go exclusively with InDesign. It has everything I need and more!

I've used both and prefer InDesign more. More used to the Adobe interface and it's what we use in school.

Cool Jabberwocky the Quarkberry next to the phototypesetter

I remember first learning Aldus Pagemaker on a dinosaur of an apple. I remember making the glorious switch to Quark... and life was good. For me Quark needed to be taken out behind the barn years ago. Give it a nice resting spot next to PageMaker, phototypesetting and waxers and try to remember Quark in its prime. I haven't used the last couple versions, maybe I should give'r a go for old times sake and see what they have d lately. Probably just getting to unicode and advanced OT features, jk.

I held on for as long as I could but InDesign was just far superior to work with. Quark got left in the dust with their pants around their ankles and walking funny. Just look at Blackberry, they are suffering from Quarkitis in recent years.

Some competition would be good to keep Ma Dobe on her toes or even dethr her should she slip.

    Cheers

Maybe it's because I've used QuarkXPress more in the last year, but I seem to prefer it to Indesign by a very slight margin... Now I feel like an outcast! Then again I haven't used the most up-to-date versions of either program.

InDesign allows you to crossover within the Creative Suite. I love the ability to drag and drop.

I ve used pagemaker ever since it was Aldus pagemaker
Used quark sparingly which had its edge for some years,
But now is the time for Indesign. And with scripts it fast
    and robust than ever
