I started with page maker but when it bit the dust, i had to move to quark... not much too it and really boring.. i kept updating hoping it would become better but in the end it was indesign that caught my eyes and stole my heart. quark feels and looks like a gimp product, slapped together by teenagers.

Never used quark but wouldn't the workflow between the whole creative suite be better?

    QuarkXPress Live

Perhaps every who has grow with WS and WP in AT8086, later PageMaker open his eyes and a little bit later the QuarkXPress show the professional work flow.. but Adobe take PageMaker and combined with his PhotoShop making a really cool tool.. that the way Id triumph.

At firs version can't do may thing more than PageMaker (the greatest thing was the StyleSheet), any way, all we had to work with Quark.. at last, to Id v.2, and became to work with both at same time until CS arise and the all we got Id at work (Adobe works good taking the possibility and ability to open Quark format)... time Quark get down.

But now all we can rediscover QuarkXPress9, at last, Quark had work hardest to grow at Adobe high level.. I'm not really sure if are equals or some things betters in or the other , but the new QuarkXPress' specifications let as among of things.

Perhaps some can tell as how its works...

Any way.. Quark got a really tough mountain to clim :1

QuarkXPress once dominated the market for page layout software with over 95% market share among professional users. While publisher estimates that share has fallen to below 25% and Adobe InDesign is now the market leader, QuarkXPress still has significant marketshare. There are open source competitors in the page layout space, the most notable of which is Scribus.
I think your choice depend on what service you want to use. What use them? An equal software make an easy workflow.

I started working and learning with QuarkXpress back in 1999, but when InDesign appeared I switched and I truly feel that it's vastly superior. More solid, more integrated with the other Adobe programs, better interface, better feel.

I'd prefer InDesign. Few people use Quark these days, at least in my country.
