    Cargocollective

I like it, it's simple and the templates are very clean and beautiful.

If you want a simple, no frills, clean-looking portfolio: Cargo.

I prefer Squarespace because of their responsive design capabilities, which I think is becoming more and more important with all the different mobile devices people are using these days.

Haven't tried Behance, but their Prosite option looks like it's worth a try.

Squarespace. Purely because of the massive advantage that is Responsive layouts.
All sites now moving forward. should be responsive.

Considering the amount of tablets/iphones. We should cater and consider them jsut as important in terms of web browsing.

I think its ridiculous that Behance Pro-Sites haven't implanted html5 responsive design layouts yet.

Cargo if you want a nice site that looks customized to the way you want it. Behance if you want your work to be seen.

Cargo is great for a general portfolio. Squarespace is a little less design specific but can certainly work as a portfolio CMS.

Behance is excellent for exposure and connections but Prosite is much less sophisticated than Cargo or Squarespace and is not responsive.

Cargo Collective is good. Behance Prosite is becoming standard and even more so now that it's integrated with Adobe. Prosite is also easily linked with new work you post on Behance so it's less hassle to maintain. Squarespace as others have mentioned can work, but I found it and Wix to be limited.

That said, I proffer custom Wordpress setup.

I've talked to some designers and I always thought it was the professional norm to have both? Most designers I know always use behance as kind of a networking place similar to linkedin for creatives but they almost always have their standalone portfolio site as well, for the latter I know people use squarespace and cargocollective or even wordpress if they're not too into coding and setting up their own servers, but if you can hosting a portfolio site isn't that hard either.

behance is great for students, but most professional host their own custom site

Think of behance as a great social media outlet for creatives, like facebook. You wouldn't post your resume on your facebook would you?

I remember making websites like this back in the 90s.

    We've gone full circle.

I used behance and prosite, but a lot of people also use cargocollective. I recommend using a self-built website, this allows your work to be viewed in the best possible manner.
