    Portfolio Hosting Sites

I am currently hosting my portfolio on Coroflot, but think I want to switch to Behance. I've been to a couple of events sponsored by Behance and from what I can tell it's very popular with professionals, students and celebrity designers (for lack of a better term) alike.

Are there any other sites I should check out? Or is it better to have your own domain and host your own portfolio?

In your opinion, is it unprofessional to use a portfolio hosting site? Or does it matter?

i thought about that for a long time now. for me, i think it makes sense! i like the idea, when your content is present and in foreground. with sites like cargo, indexhibit etc everyone nows which buttons to press and what happens when you do. i like the simplicity of indexhibit a lot! and the design also.
    one font, one color.

Thank you for mentioning that! I just checked out indexhibit and it looks very nice. I am not quite ready to set up web space yet though, buit I bookmarked the site for when I do go that way.

    Squarespace?

Not a portfolio hosting site per se, but it does have some really nice/premium portfolio templates. Its a CMS. Really nice but it does come with a premium price tag

Squarespace is nice but kinda pricy, for portfolios I recommend Cargocollective.

behance is actually a VERY good site for 1. exposure and 2. customize your portfolio site. they offer a free trial, password protection, so it doesnt hurt to try it and see how you feel about it.

should have your own domain and host your own portfolio.
than you have your mailadress from your domain -> professional

post some examples on portfolio-host-sites and mention your own domain

    Definitely Behance .

    1. Exposure
    2. Possible job offers from clients (there is a lot of scouts there)

Also you should consider your personal web page .

If you work with Adobe Creative Clouds, and don't want to make your portfolio from scratch, Behance is definitely the better one.
-> Adobe bought Behance in December and ProSite is now included in Creative Cloud membership so . . .
