    Have tryed Fireworks for web graphics, but illustrator creates the smaller png-files.

    I use Photoshop for photo retouching and composition, but fireworks is easier and better to do jobs for web .. I prefer Fireworks if I have to don anything involved in websites.

    I have to agree on this. Fireworks is really good for webpages, specially if you want to optimize the size of the photos, etc.

    different programs with different purposes.
    I think that if you do only web, "maybe" you can stick with fireworks. There's some functions that you can't find on photoshop (css3 coding/export for graphics is one)...

    It depends on the type of workflow and on your task.
