macs do have a considerably better user experience and when the main thing is producing the best work you can, every distraction or niggle breaks your flow and takes you away from doing what we all want to be doing, creating the best work we can. Mac just wins from this perspective. It just has the least barriers between us and the apps we relay on. But it's certainly not perfect.

Generally Mac. Though I would love a GOOD pc for doing 3D work. Problem is with most PCs is that they don't have the best hardware and so dont perform well. Macs generally only have good hardware so tend to last longer.

I prefer my Mac for designing. I have less problems with color calibration and it doesn't seem to get as bogged down when I am working between multiple programs programs.

From a aesthetics/design standpoint? definitely mac. it's so elegant and unified
From a practicality standpoint? PC - I can get a decent PC and an IPS monitor for less than the cost of even an iMac.
That being said, if I was rich, I'd have a Mac Pro (or a few Mac Pros)

    >Linux
    >Windows
    >Mac

Linux is the fastest, "never" crashes, i've used it for years and i'm a big fan. Now i'm using windows because of photoshop and other software not available on the penguin.
Imho mac is the worst OS. It's like defects of windows and defects of linux, merged together.

The question is just MAC vs PC?
PC! Because on a PC you can easily install linux ;)

I'm a Mac lover for work, graphic design mainly.

The reliability of the system is outstanding and it has a lot of minor functionalities that simplify my work a lot...

Yeah Linux is even better than mac but it demands a lot of knowledge about command lines and stuff...

Mac all the way for graphic design =)

macs, just because of their aesthetic. unfortunately as everyone else has touched on, they're not precisely value for money compared to a lot of pcs.

Many people bring up the cost of a Mac as the reason they prefer PC's, so I thought'd I'd drop a link to a great site here. It's about using OSX without paying the premium price of Macintosh hardware. Instead, you can purchase regular PC components, as long as you pick the right parts (the same stuff Mac's have inside them, and therefore OSX has support for them).

If you are interested, read up, see the Buyer's Guide, and go for it :) Mine works like a charm and was really easy to setup.

    PC sucks!

I think designer should have a mac! Not only becouse it looks gorgeous, but OS is faster, smoother and bugs appear rearly. Apple has a very high standart, and price unfortunetly but you get a fantastic computer!

    Mac >>>>> Windows

Mac all the way! Never having to really worry about viruses is great. My PC laptop always gave me issues and I was super careful about the sites I visited and what I downloaded, it seems a lot of background downloads can easily get through on a PC vs Mac.

Relatively high cost PC , MAC is too expensive . You can configure the PC with a high- mounted virtual MAC

I like the Mac OS better, and the macbook pros are a lot more portable - but you can get a nice PC laptop for 1/2 the price of a mac with better specs.

If money were no object, definitely mac.
