PC>Mac Which is your favorite and why? (not saying ios vs windows)

Ok, i originally started on a mac waaaayyy back in the day, and well it got way too expensive.

Then day i was at a friends house and he was building a computer. Well this totally blew my mind. I went home and hopped on my slow as can be mac and researched it all for myself. ever since then ive been completely pc. Originally it was the price and flexibility, but now it is the speed and functionality. I tried going back to mac in 2008 but found i was feeling, well claustrophobic and tied down.

    What are your thoughts?

What do you mean by speed and functionality? Speed and functionality of what? Windows? How is it faster? I like Mac because the software built in works well and integrates, rather than having to install software and deal with the incompatibilities of Windows. To be specific, there is a big difference between Windows Vista, W7 and now W8, and I am not sure if the problem is system related, or drivers, or something else? With Mac I haven't had as many problems changing from SL to L to ML. There were some upgrades needed (like Parallels), but mostly everything continued on with more useful features added all the time. I can text from my Mac to iphs, etc., all built in. My friend was saying his wife wants Net Nanny on his PCs. With Mac it's built in already.

I prefer Mac, but at the end of the day it doesn't matter what kind of system you're designing on imho.

As bjurn said above me, at the end of the day it really does not matter the system.

I have been working only on windows because since i was little i worked on this kind of platform. I also tried to switch but for me..it is not the same, i feel limited, probably is just my wicked mind.

Maybe day, i will switch because the macs are always a waaay better optimized than any windows os, and that depends on many factors.

I'm on a PC presently, and I'm probably going to move to a Mac within the next few weeks. Particularly because the Alt key really gets in the way of Alt+Scroll zooming and subsequently pressing a key to switch tools (constantly opening a menu, e.g., Alt+Scroll > Alt mode still enabled > V for move > View menu opens. I like Windows; I'm familiar with it from using it since Win98. It's generally stable, runs Adobe CS, and nerks well (I use nerk shares a lot for file storage). But there are a few things that just tick me off.

I also like Macs - the UI is consistent and designed well, they're proven to be dependable and stable machines, and the quality of the screen displays color *correctly* which is hard to find in a consumer-grade monitor. Aaaand they don't have an Alt key.

Ultimately, we'll see how I like using a Mac for significant work.

    (Just my cents)

Mac. I've never worked in a design studio (for print) where there have been Window PC's used by the designers. Only time I've worked alongside PC users was when we've had 3D designers/animators on staff. All the graphic designers used Macs though. The OS just gets out of the way and lets you work.

    PC is the best!
Why would you pay more if you get better graphic cards on Cheap PC and they both work the same quality?
