I tend to go to the art museum, if time permits, if not, just a walk around the neighborhood. Just allow myself to take in the area around me, looking at the details
When I get a rusty, I try to look at others' works to get some inspiration. I also listen to music when I can't think of anything or probably draw random stuff until I get an idea. I know, it's really difficult but doing something is better rather than doing nothing.
i travel a lot, breaks my mind everytime anew.
Doing something completely opposite to design. Sometimes doing the least creative thing sparks creativity. I find that using the other side of your brain often lends itself to coming up with great ideas. Also, staying awake until the witching hour!
A good night sleep and continue working. You only get somewhere if you continue working on the project and go through multiple iterations.
I always take a solid break, or just looking at some websites will get the juices flowing! but otherwise a good solid break, focusing on anything but design, will do the trick.
Walking away for a bit seems to help, but my job doesn't really allow me to do that most of the time. When working on multiple projects under short deadlines, I just have to suck it up and work through it.
Sometimes I surprise myself and end up doing something way better than I thought I would.
If I'm really having a hard time, I search the web for similar types of projects to see if I can get any inspiration. If that doesn't help, I consult a co-worker for ideas.
If the job is basic enough, I do sometimes have the luxury of 'cheating' a bit by going to a subscription creative site, using one of their 'templates' and adapting it to the job at hand.
It always comes back eventually, and usually better than before.
Look at old art, pick up some abstracted ideas from them.
Ride my motorbike. or any other activity that requires 100% attention and focus.
Learn to think laterally for project subjects, ie, outside of the box. Designers are good at this anyway so it's no big thing. This can reveal new directions and help to shake things up. Also spider diagrams good for new connections and thoughts on a project. The other thing I like to do is go on a bike ride or a long car drive, this is a good way of clearing the mind and coming up with new ideas.
Hope this helps!
When ever I'm stuck I take a shower. Crazy how much that helps. The key is getting your mind off what you're doing, and on something else.
Completely put down the project and forget about it. An idea usually comes at a random time in your head.
Take a break, do something else, read, try out a tutorial online -- any thing to get a fresh perspective... And yeah, some times just the pressure of the deadline helps, in a very stressful way lol
I just saw video games. That's a really good one.
