How do you beat designers block?

I have read a few articles on how to get over a creative block, and facing days where creativity doesn't flow - and I have found that experimenting with new technique tutorials helps me get over my creative slump.

Recently, during a creative block I learned some new Pen Tool techniques in Adobe Illustrator and it helped A TON.

    What's your secret?

Just gotta learn to let it go when you're really stuck – get out of the house/office, do something else, and come back to it later...

I find regular exercise to be pretty helpful as well

I find getting some fresh air then break your deadline into chucks and hammer through each section. I find by breaking it up it becomes easier to work through each section and before you know it you've made it through and with time to tweak. You'll be surprised how well this works.

basically just forcing myself to not overthink something, can be easier said that done

but even having few hours break and coming back to a design can give me a whole new perspective on something

When I hit a block, I usually step away from the project for a while. When I come back, I usually see things in a new perspective.

Look for help. I usually just show what I'm working on to someone else (designer or not). That usually helps, it gives me perspective or just makes me rethink the whole process with a different scope.

Often times I find that the stress of actual deadlines forces me out of designer's block.

I usually go for a long walk, or break my routines. Try something new instead of the same old pattern.

What works for me is a good excercise. A 5km run or a lap around town on my bike. Always clears my head.

Like everyone else. Come back later.

Or go and have a search around for someone who's doing something similar.

I definitely need to learn to "let it go" and come back to it later! I have learned however, that when I am feeling super creative to take advantage of it and get as much done as possible.

And I have found that getting out of the studio helps a lot. Ironically, shopping gets my creative juices flowing so I like to take a stroll around the mall! I think it's the colors, patterns, smells, etc. that gets me back into creative mode.
