Habits that go a long way

In your opinion/experience when designing, what are some positive habits that can benefit your workflow, etc.?

My habit is to not have habits :)
In the same way I hate 9-5 job, I hate also the habits in my daily life, so always trying to keep my routine in chaos!

maybe a positive habit could be to stay focused to what you're doing/your job and leave out all the things that can bea distraction...

A face-to-face meeting (or at least a phone call) with the client before beginning the job. It's all too easy to work off some brief details in an email, but I find I tend to have so much more to work with after a conversation.

A to-do list helps to stay focused - mostly on big and complex projects.

Oh, and listening to good music (whatever that means) it's a healthy habit, too!

Agreed. I think one positive approach to designing would be to avoid constant routines. I feel that can really kill creativity.

Agree with everything that's been said. Another tip (I wouldn't really call it a habit) is to always meet clients outside of their workplace. A cafe, restaurant or your office removes them from the many distractions of their own job.

make sure you are finding ways to inspire yourself on a daily basis. whether its searching for images or researching a style. do it everyday.

hopefully, its not just a job but something you enjoy. remember that and get lost in the entire process of designing.

I've found this is of immense help. There's times that towards the end of my work shift I get hit with "writer's block" but the very next day, once I've stepped back from the situation, things become clearer & I improve my design, etc.

I'm surprised with a lot of the other responses here so far. I think any professional would need to develop many different good habits in order to stay successful. I make a habit out of staying organized & keeping good records. Seems like there's so much more needed than just "creativity".
