    Gradient Transparency in Illustrator?

Does anyone know how you can set transparency to a gradient in Illustrator? I can only seem to use solid colors with gradients.

You can set the opacity by each point in the gradient. (From Illustrator CS4 i think)

Moreover, gradient in Illustrator could be use to create Opacity Mask. It could be found when you click on that little arrow in the upper right corner of transparency palette.

You might have to upgrade your version of Illustrator if the above settings are not available... this works for CS5, though.
