What method or app do you use, and why?

I use Font Book (since I have OS X) and have never needed anything different. I appreciate that it lets me create custom folders, which means I can sort or re-sort any fonts I like or by style. I can track font stacks that way as well...

    inDesign CS5.5 Document fonts folder.

    That's perfect for corrections.

Still, suitcase fusion 3 is the one tthat really help me find the fonts I need.

i don't know how you guys can say things like:

    ...this one is the best
    ...there's no other like this
    ...and so on...

all i can do is tell my experience and ask you all for help
i work in both WIN and MAC

in MAC... since i discover Linotype FontExplorer, i give up searching for more
    - is very stable
    - quick
    - let's me do preview of the fonts before i installed them
    - i use tons (i mean tons) of fonts, TT, T1 and OTF but i putted them all in the catalogue and the program seems to manage all of them pretty well
    - so i'm very pleased

in WIN... i always used FontNavigator
    - very small, and quick
    - very stable
    - and best of all, let's me see preview of fonts without i have to put them in the catalogue, i can just run the folders where i have my fonts (tons of them), see what i want and install
    - FontNavigator puts a shortcut in system font folder, and take it out when i uninstall de font

    - SUITCASE doesn't uninstall the shortcuts and is very slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww to manage the fonts in the catalogue and in the librarys
    - Errors with plugins
    - Quickmatch sucks... is too slow

    MY PROBLEM NOW
since i'm using Win7... FontNavigator (wich has been discontinued) starts making errors, i install fonts but he doesnt put them there, etc etc...
i was forced to try others... but unfortunatly none of them like FONTNAVIGATOR
i'm using SUITCASE, but i'm very unhappy

of course i will not buy SUITCASE and i can't afford LINOTYPE

so... i will keep on trying and searching more Freeware stuff till i find a FontNavigator similar :)

    Suitcase on Mac OS/9.

I never found anything as good on the PC, maybe I didn't look hard enough!

We used Macs for everything back then, these days its PC's. So I'm looking to try some of the recommendations mentioned here over the next few days.

    Talking according to me...

I am a Windows 7 user and have been using Suitcase v.2 with QuarkXpress and was quite pleased with the features!
Last year, I upgraded to Suitcase v.3 hoping it would be much better and efficient, but was in for a shock...It slowed my computer so much I didn't use it even for a week. I had to revert back to Extensis Suitcase v.2.

Another problem with Extensis Suitcase is, whenever i delete a font from my library, it deletes and irritatingly scroll/jump to the top of the list and i had to scroll down the long, long list to continue again. It would be okay if you had about a dozen fonts only in your list (as if!!) but we are talking about thousands, folks!!!

Recently, I have switched to Linotype FontExplorer 2.3 (Build 648.64136).

my verdict: Fusion Suitcase v.2 was good but v.3 was, and is CRAP!
p.s: this is strictly for windows users...i have no idea about how it fares in the apple world!

Somebody got a link for the linotype font explorer for windows ?

i wanna try it (on the mac at wrok, we use that, but i allways hate the "link to store" feature.

Juste like the itunes app. Why must we pass by them to pay for fonts ?
