    Folded Foil

Has anyone ever done a folded piece where a foil stamp went across a fold line?

Yes, I used hot stamp what intersected crease. It isn't problem when the hot stamped is fine.

any chance you have a suggestion on process for mocking up a foil 'look' in illustrator? Doing a project for fun and want to mock-up a potential prototype and hoping to keep it as scalable as possible.

@mikeydoesit You could always google search for some metal illustrator gradients. OR you can try to find a texture, whether it be silver or gold or copper… etc. and just mask it into your work. Otherwise, for a mockup, I'm not sure how you can mimic the reflectiveness of a metallic foil.

yeah, i figured it was a bit of a longshot and i apologize for derailing the subject of the original thread, it just felt reasonably related.

thats what i came up with using the layer effects from a template off graphicburger but still felt a little 'too' mocked up for me. thanks again, though.

    It's not illustrator but Visualizer?

We used hot foil onto mat lamination. It works great!

I suppose it also would be possible to make a blind embossing over (or beneath) a hotfoil?

Of course, it's called foil embossing, like this:

But it can't intersect crease and fold.
