    Try teamtreehouse.com

I find it a pretty pleasant way of learning graphic design. You can go through the series of videos and quizzes, and after all do the tasks.
Definitely it could be a good starting point for not only a graphic designers but a web designers and programmers as well

    Good luck!

Its always good to study works of others, choose some artist you admire and study their work, how they set type, work with color, composition, etc. its sometimes faster and more effective then tutorials. Tutorials in general teach you techniques\software, but you can learn it all by practice and experimenting. Good luck :)

Watch, watch and watch, internet, tv, simply everything, search for books/magazines and start your own book collection. Read it, understand it, never copy from the other fellow designers. Learn to work with type and color. Always try to do the project best as you can. And remember that even super great looking design without any idea is crap. I took me about 2 years of everyday going through the websites and working on my projects to build a portfolio that gave me my current job and position. I can say now that I'm a good designer but still far from excellent and breathtaking. So good luck.

Learn the Basics.. then start to decorate. Meaning learn typography, composition etc. first and after that use photoshop effects.

I recently found this page which appeared on the top 20 graphic design tutorials. To begin look good, but the design is learned from the theory and then apply the practice. http://www.sorryzorrito.com/2008/10/los-20-mejores-sitios-de-tutoriales-de-diseno/
