    Datamerge in InDesign.

    Hi all.

Just needed a little help with merging data onto an existing InDesing doc.
I have a custom footer text for every page of a directory that I am designing and would like to automate the process. it span approx. 70 pages.

Does any know how I can achieve this.

This reminds me of the old times when I tried to get into catalog design. If I remember correctly, there is a way to automate data input using XML or a form of XML. I can't remember exactly. Also, there was some scripting involved too, if my memory serves me right.

You can try EasyCatalog, a great solution for data merging. And even if you dont use it much this time next it should be a great time saver

i have a little question how do i prepare the .csv file in excel? do i have to write all the text to each and every cell of the table? or can i do copy and paste from a file .doc directly to the file excel?

seems like it's easy in indesign but i want to know how to prepare the database. because writing a hundrends or thousands of data is impossible without copying and pasting a file word directly in excel, do you think its ok? is there any possibility to face some problems on merging the data source?
