Font Expert or the classic Font Manager are really good. If you only need to quickly install / remove fonts i've noticed that while lacking advanced functionality, Bitstram Font navigator will cause the least number of windows related problems when using font duplicates.

Any open source or freeware? Because my first choice would be that.
I don't have a ton of fonts; in windows 7 and 8 it's possible to right click a font and install it.

I've been using FontExplorer for a while. I used to have suitcase, but prefer FontExplorer.
Might try out some of the suggestions

I definitely agree with many of the posts here suggesting Suitcase (Suitcase Fusion for Mac). If you're looking for something free Font Frenzy, Font Xplorer, and The Font Thing (Win) are decent.

    Edited to correct typo
