Scriptographer is a customisable plugin for Illustrator that has the potential to recreate a glitch effect

Most basic text editors allow you to open files as plain text. Experimenting with deleting / replacing / duplicating chunks of text then saving the image file can give you interesting effects.

Glitché for iOS is pretty damn great. In combination with other apps the possibilities are pretty much endless. Here's something I did recently:

Pretty sure you can do everything Glitché does with Photoshop too. Also, look up "pixel sorting" and Processing.

There is little cool program for Mac called ImageGlitch (2 dolars on appstore) which dynamicaly generate previews when you are destroing images.

Best glitches ive found are ones where you save image uncompressed (as RAW mostly) and import it into the audio editor (audacity) and use audio effects on it.

That process can be found here: http://www.tophersaunders.com/wp/how-to-use-audacity-to-glitch-images/

mess around with scanners, print out an image and rescan it, but move the image while its scanning. makes some cool effect yet pretty over used. also try layering images in photoshop and using layer blend modes (like hard mix), sometimes that can yield interesting results. just play around in photoshop, you can make some really awesome stuff if you just experiment.
