    Any Tips for Beginner Lettering?

    Anybody has a tips on starting how to learn lettering?

    self study graphic design, but don't really good at drawing, bad handwriting XD hahahaa

    designing type by karen cheng is a must read. Everything you need to know about typeface classification (i.e. how to identify a humanist sans) to how to create your own type.

    All of Doyald's work was hand-done...

    Also see if you can find some screen captures from the out-of-print and very expensive "Feder und Stichel" (Pen and Graver) by Hermann Zapf.

    wow looking at the covers I thought it was letterpressed

    You can search on youtube for hand lettering tuts. There are some helpfull vids. And draw as much as you can. Practice makes perfect. Good luck!

    practice drawing fonts. all the time. seriously. I have had instructors that can replicate fonts like helvetica by hand. get that good and it will not be a problem.

    look at other work out there and find something you like,
    use tracing paper,
    don't expect something perfect.

    do tons of research and just practice as much as you can. it will come eventually
