I think it just COULD be a 'Game Changer'

Though in today's can't beat'em-buy'em arena, they may not last...
If they can outlast the Big "A's' attempt to squash them, I think we'll finally have some leveling of the playing field. From what I've read, (downloading to test it out now) it seems to have all that Illustrator has, and somewhat less of a footprint on the CPU.
I'm fairly excited to put it through some paces on some projects.

Thanks so much for bringing it to our attention!
As a former FreeHand/FreeHand MX user, I welcome a different perspective on vector.

I'm all for companies providing healthy competition for Adobe. The only thing that these companies have against them right now is time. The sheer amount of plugins that have been marketed and made exclusively for Adobe products for over the past decade will take a serious amount of time for developers to compete with them. That being said...I really would like to try out this program and learn the perks to it!

Uses much less resources than AI does. I like it. A lot. :)

New alternatives to Adobe CC suscription method are always very welcome, but I donĀ“t agree with this sentence :

"Affinity Designer is the first vector editing tool to offer creative professionals a serious alternative to Illustrator."

Affinity is not the first serious alternative to Illustrator, they forgot to mention CorelDRAW ! the real alternative to Illustrator at this moment. You can purchase a perpetual license of CorelDRAW X7 Graphics Suite if you want to avoid to pay the "Adobe cloud rental"

Anyway all effort against graphic sofware monopoly is welcome!

But.... us windows users are out in the cold.
Just going to keep rocking the adobe apps is all.
