H&F Leviathan or Ziggurat have a nice, really black face.

If you want to really exaggerate it have a look at FontFabric

Dispatch Black (Font Bureau) could be a good call, it's really fat.
(I guess you are not looking for sans serifs only, as you say you need something "blocky")

Cyrus highsmith is a teacher at my school! Awesome professor apparently, I really want to take his type design class.

Depends on the context but some faves are ITC Serif Gothic, Knockout, Futura...

It really depends on the context. Could you give us an idea of what you're designing it for and what you're trying to communicate with it?

Aside from that, I am still fond of Brothers from Emigre, even if it tends to get a little over-used.

And if you want "really thick", "as blocky as possible", well...

    Check out Prisma:

It doesn't get much thicker or blockier than that. LOL.

That's funny, how is "Prisma" a paid font on youworkforthem but free on the foundrys own site, named "Mod" - it's the absolute same font...

Huh. It absolutely is. What's worse is that it costs $19 on MyFonts. $32 for both weights.

I just can't get enough of Proxima Nova these days for such applications where bold and brave lettering is needed. I'm also amazed that every client seems to love it too... Comes in a few weights, and takes custom strokes/offset strokes pretty well too. I know it's similar to Helvetica and what not, but for me there is something special about this font.
