The Tungstens are cool but usually they require to work with a really big text in order to remain legible.

Din Condensed are widespread, but they still look alright, especially the recently released version by Parachute.

A good old Akzidenz Grotesk or Univers is also good, particularly as a "second" typeface for a project.

As for serifs, the condensed version of Plantin bold stole my heart.

my personal go-to's are verlag compressed, league gothic, tungsten (any/all) but i have always wanted to sprinkle in some director's gothic. gets a little tricky at times as does tungsten, though. the life of a sign designer i guess.
