The advantage to OpenType is that it supports a much larger character set for displaying different written languages.

Yep, e.g. Code2000 with 63546 glyphs (and for free!):

    This is not true!

Truetype font and opentype font support the same amount.

Maybe many people here are confused opentype font with opentype feature.

There is truetype font with opentype features and opentype font with opentype features.

When a truetype font has a DSIG table (digital signature) the icon change from "T" to "O" but the font is still a Truetype.

Ex: Arial Unicode has more them 51000 characteres and is a Truetype font with a lot of languages and opentype features.

Don't convert truetype to opentype or opentype to truetype, this is not a perfect conversion and the font won't have the exact draws.

A good truetype font has better hinting them a opentype font but opentype fonts have less nodes, less size of file and need less memory to print.

I keep TTFs because I use PowerPoint a lot, and you can only export TTF fonts in ppts... wish people would upload TTFs more! :p

I never delete my ttf fonts, but most times I install the otf ones.

Yes, but the point of the thread is to ask if you actually toss/delete/throw away any & all duplicate TT fonts.

OTF has more features and characters, so I always chose OTF. TTF is pointless if given the option of the two.

Then, definitely NOT - no one in their right mind would do that.

It has to be assessed on a font by font basis.
