Seeking guidance on rendering previews of fonts

What is the best way to make rendered preview PDF files of fonts that have not been installed?

Another words, is there a way to make something like a contact-sheet for a font collection that isn't necessarily installed yet?

I'm seeking a way that I can use a visual approach to identifying fonts by their appearances instead of attempting to memorize their names or to create complex catalog filled with esoteric keywords and tags.

I use a program called printers apprentice. You can check it out here.: www.loseyourmind.com

    It's easy and cheap :)

AMP Font Viewer, Typograf or FontExplorer X Pro will all help ya organize and view your complete font collection. Acrobat Pro installed will let you right click on any font and create a PDF version as well.
