Question: Which font do you see everyday that you hate and why?

Thirsty Script is really starting to grate on me. I loved it and bought it in 2012 to use on a personal project but it has since completely saturated the retro script scene. Might have to go back to using Radio by Constellation! R.

Zapfino. It looks like it was picked as an easy solution.

Papyrus. All the takeaways in my local area have started using it (and therefore it gets posted through my letterbox nearly every day).

I'm sure I don't need to list all the reasons why I hate it.

It's funny how certain fonts get automatically pigeon-holed in certain sectors. My guess it used was for a chinese/med/italian takeaway? What's surprising is it's still being used for 'main-stream' projects (it was used in Avatar for the subtitles!).

Haha, yes how did you know? It does seem to be becoming a bit of a default 'oriental/exotic' font.

I don't mind TNR too much but it has to be used in context. Do you think that people tend to revert back to the Classics like Times/Garamond/Baskervile because they are so readily available as system fonts? I completed on a project recently where I specified Fedra Serif A rather than one of the classic serifs. The finished project looked great and had all the authority of the classic serifs but with a more distinct look. R.

I like how you coined it as 'oriental/exotic'! hahaha! I saw that font too in a picture of the Pope and I don't know exactly how they like to love this font. Copperplate gothic comes next in the smorgasbord of overused fonts. I'm using this really great font by Flat-It type foundry "Griffon". It's a really nice replacement to Goudy's Copperplate. IMO.

The Lost Type library is very period. The new Klinic font is a quite nice and refreshing step into a contemporary slab serif market. The Ligatures are very nice.

My place of employment decided to use Mishka as the font on our holiday grocery bags...it has forever ruined the font for me. I recognized it instantly and was pretty upset; I had planned to use it for a wedding project but now I don't think so.
