My trial version of Illustrator doesn't show glyphs with no unicode

I have a trial version of Illustrator and am finding that glyphs with no unicode are not accessible. If I double-click on the glyph, I get a blank space or a question mark. Does anyone know if this is a limitation of the trial version or my fonts?

    Thanks!

This error always meet with trial of AI.
I think it'll work perfectly if you install full of it.

Ah...that's what I suspected, but I was told that there were no limitations on the trial version. Thank you!

FWIW, CorelDraw X6 handles glyphs nicely.

Can items from CorelDraw be placed in Photoshop? I mainly use Illustrator because of its OpenType capabilities that Photoshop does not have. Could I create the text the way I want and then paste it into Photoshop?

Thanks for your help. I am teaching myself and would someday like to do everything in Illustrator, but haven't yet taken the time to learn enough to do so. Right now it's easier for me to pop things into Photoshop for invitations and party prints. I was reading reviews of CorelDraw and I read it has all of the features of Illustrator "without the bloat and steep learning curve". Sounds like my kind of program.

I don't know about Pasting vector stuff into PS from CorelDraw, but I can say that you would like CorelDraw a lot more than Illy. It is so much more user-friendly and intuitive. It is also now 64 bit. The way it shows you the alternate characters/glyphs of a font is fantastic. It's inexpensive too!

In addition, It always perplexes me to see people using PS to design many things which would be better done in Corel or Illy. It's primary use is for photo editing.

there should be no reason why you wouldn't be able to paste from CorelDraw to PS
