    Saludos.
    No tenia la menor idea de que este tipo de cosas se hiciera de este modo, crei que solo se podian hacer con el programa ya mensionado o con alguno similar, muchas gracias, es mas facil de lo que creia, yo estaba creyendo que era de una manera mucho mas dificil, estupendo tutorial y muy completo, lo entendi a la perfeccion.

    Muchas gracias MyFs13! Excelente tutorial

    Pero yo estoy tiendo problemas en el momento de descargar la fuente (sea WOFF, sea TTF)
    La fuente que estoy tentando hacer el rip es Newslab Bold:

    Code:
    Only the registered members can see the download links/content. please Register to gain full access.
    El problema es que cuando descargo la fuente, el archivo descargado no tiene la extensión .ttf ni .woff. Cuando trato de abrir este archivo en FontLab, aparezca el siguiente error:

    Archivo de fuentes TrueType está dañada y no se puede abrir en FontLab
    Aqui están los links que estoy usando para descargar la fuente

    Formato WOFF

    Code:
    Only the registered members can see the download links/content. please Register to gain full access.
    Formato TTF

    @linx9

    Probablemente estás guardando el archivo sin extención (.woff - .ttf etc.) y por los links que proporcionaste uno es .eot que no es soportado por FontLab y el otro link es Regato by La Boîte Graphique y no Newslab By Latinotype

    Aquí te dejo las fuentes extraídas en TTF sin editar

    si no se reproduce es porque hay que instalar un codec. Lo bajas de este link

    Let me tell you one thing, myfonts is a terrible source for ripping. It almost always mess up the convert process, results in the woff/ttf contains distorted/crappy outlines. Never rip anything out of myfonts, that's what I've learned. It's painful, but it's true.

    The fact that mostly WFX versions of fonts now are from myfonts, make me don't really fond of them anymore. But these versions are enough for testing purpose before buying the originals.

    What websites do you recommend ripping from then? Is Youworkforthem a good one?

    @Juana
    with FontCreator I had problems packing the families but not with FontLab

    Con respecto a lo que puso el user Memento mori hay casos donde el ttf / woff etc contienen errores, por ejemplo Regato como lo dije en mensajes atrás. Pero no todas las webfonts o al menos las que yo he extraído "sin usar algún software para extraerlas" contenían errores en los glifos etc.

    Creo que los que ponen esos mensajes desalentadores lo hacen para que las demás personas no lo hagan o sólo para tratar de decir que lo hace mejor (lo cual dudo). Si es así entonces proporcione tutoriales y lugares donde las webfonts son mucho mejores.
    Por ejemplo en el sitio de fontyou las webfonts son muy buenas pero no contienen todos los glifos. Klim Type 50/50. Fontspring - webfonts malas e incompletas etc. etc.

    Conclusión: Si se quiere tipografías de calidad tan sólo cómprelas.

    Espero que myfonts no empiece a subir webfonts con errores o incompletas a propósito de ahora en más.

    Saludos

    TTF files works fine in FontLab Studio

    the WOFF files are not supported by FontLab

    Here are the unedited ttf files

    Juana,

    if I tried to use the "source" files straight away, I would have the same problem on a Mac. Just because the web font/source file has an extension of ttf does not mean that it was generated with everything Win/Mac needs to install in system. (Early days of ttf, Mac ttf's did not work on win and vice versa, today few know or remember that incompatibility since mac specific flavor of ttf is no longer necessary since Mac OS 10)

    Be it at the basic end with a program like TransType or the advanced end with FontForge or FontStudio, if you properly go thru renaming and family packing steps then regenerate your ttf's or generate them into otf's it should make them usable on your system. (a quick regenerate of MyFs13's raw source files thru TransType turned uninstallable ttf's files into proper ttf's that install fine on my Mac. I did not try Font Doctor, not sure if it would sort it out or not.)

    The thing to remember, until the source file proves you wrong, the assumption should be that there is always going to be something "missing" from a web font. In fact, from a webmaster's point of view, like pdf's, the best web font cuts out every last bit of extra data/glyphs/features/OS data/encodings, etc. If I was a webmaster encoding a web font for the PrintRoot masthead above, and that is the only place that font face is used, my first thought would be that I would only want 7 glyphs in the font, "PrintRo". Fortunately there are a lot of reasons why web fonts are not getting reduced to the "overkill" level I would go to .

    You're right, when i download the font they don't have family name and the name of style is just "?".

    I download a family of 12 fonts, 8 of this i can see it at Illustrator's menu, it's a big step

    Thanks for your time MyFs13!!

    Is there any way to rip fonts that don't have the "Webfont" tab available?
