    Font Software

I've used FontLab extensively, and Glyphs for a short period of time. In general my first impression was that Glyphs was a little more considered in terms of user-flow and ease of use.

Recently, a friend of mine who is much more experienced with type design showed me his work-flow in Robofont and it convinced me enough that I will probably make the switch at some point in the near future.

Fontlab is good enough for me, but I've heard nothing but good things about Glpyhs.

Glyphs is great if you create icon fonts.

    Illustrator and Fontlab

I think to start into fonts, illustrator is good, but it cannot generate fonts..
Fontlab is a profesional program where you can generate fonts archives from it.
There are plenty of tutorials on internet!
Think you should give it a go!
