I like Escrow Roman for body text.

Eudald by Feliciano was designed for newspapers:

I would also agree that Chronicle and Mercury from HFJ are both excellent choices, on account of the range of 'grades', as well as being equipped with a suite of symbols and dingbats for editorial typography. There are also Display versions of both.

Also, if you like the look of Swift (another excellent choice for newsprint, for which it was designed) I would strongly recommend the 'Neue' version, released in 2009, which includes a full range of weights, and a condensed version.

    Thx!!
    Try Utopia family

I would try guardian by commercial type or scout by fontbureau.

Scout is a great choice for headlines, but wouldn't work for setting lengthy texts - and I believe you were looking for a serifed typeface for body text.

Guardian is excellent; you might also consider Arnhem Pro from OurType:

Yes Antwerp is beautiful, another good choice for a more traditional serif.

You can use Adobe Text Pro. This font is , in my opinion, easy readable.
