Aktiv Grotesk. For me it lookes like a refined Helvetical.

Gotham is a great alternative to Helvetica

Gotham has become my new go to font because it has so many different "flavors". You can read it easily and it has character.

right! you are lazy if you use helvetica!

but if you are still like to come arround like a sleek swissman, you may try Zurich from bitstream. very nice clear type, which is neutral to be used almost anwhere, but has some distinct character in its character weights and subtle forms.

I keep coming back to Akkurat, though its not really a Helvetica alternative, seems very versatile.

Atlas is lovely, quite strict a la Univers but kinder. The Lineto fonts are great too, LL Brown and Circular, simple but with a lot of character.

what I'd really love to use, but it's impossible due to the lack of the complete family and to the fact that it's really too expensive to buy, is Lettera by Lineto.

I choose Avenir Next Pro full set of 32 fonts. They're gorgeous and probably the ideal alternation for Helvetica. But, Helvetica to me is still number 1!

    Atkiv Grotesk (Dalton Maag)
    Akkurat (Lineto)
Or you could try Neutral (Typotheque)
