Anyone out there using a Topsetter plate maker, or a Compose system. I'd like to share problems, fixers etc.

    Abuser / User

Hi, I have had problems with the auto plate loader. Why it has to do a 180 degree turn to load the plate is unknown. I have also used a Lotem were plate feed in horizontally no problem.
The Topsetter is strained when loading plates. Plated drop off the suckers on a regular basis, or are not transported to the punch mech. If they get past the punch then sometimes not to the drum.
That's our main problem ATM. Problems with the plate clamps on the drum are a pain. When a loading plate fails, the Topsetter losers where's it at, so a unload of plate / reset does not always work. Then have to manually remove plate from drum & reposition plate clamps in a neutral position fir a complete restart / initialisation.
Doing that too often is the real pain.
On a good point, had Topsetter for over 4 years, moved it twice, & only 1 really down time when a pcb blow.
It works like an old car, treat her well & she will preform.

You, my friend, have a faulty transport mechanism inside your ctp. In my company we have Topsetter P74 for 5 years, and only once we had to manually unload a plate off the drum. And only once had to position clamps on the drum.
I heard that auto loading systems on SCREEN PTR series are quite reliable (as you probably know, Topsetters are actualy Screen's machines with Heidelberg logo).

It seems that device that brings the plate from the loading table down to the drum has a malfunction. You probably get those "Mechanical error" messages often.
I'll try to find PDF service manual for Screen PTR 4300 and upload it for you...

    Topsetter 102 Service Manual.

We also use Topsetter 102, and also have a problem. I think we can help availability Service Manual. If someone has it - a big request: give the download link.
