Platesetter is a delicate machine. Machine will last longer if:

    1. The place or site is well maintained.
    2. Prepress technician is very knowlegeable.
    3. Consumables are well nursed.
    4. Preventive maintenance are in place.

We have a 9-year old violet CTP still working with no considerable downtime.

Other Way The workflow is free when you by any Trendsetter, rely is free because if you by separated the machine and workflow the pricec is to much.
this machine can be drived directly by this workflows or rip not only throw tiff1bit

    Suprasetter

The Suprasetter CtP is a very reliable and can have internal punch to pierce the plate.
The laser is very stable, and water-cooled. The machine has an internal chiler to cool the laser and the cylinder. In models Suprasetter A, chiler cools only the laser.
The Screen / Agfa CtPs are also very reliable and fast. The diodes can be replaced separately at a lower cost.
I've had customers who have replaced 4 or 6 laser diodes in a CtP Screen per year, and have seen customers work with a Suprasetter six years without doing any maintenance on the laser (just cleaning). Sure I've seen a customer with a Screen CtP work four years without exchanging any laser.
If you add 4 laser diodes per year in Screen for 6 years, gives almost the same value in exchange a laser head Suprasetter.

    derrico write a right thing.
A suprasetter laser costs about 25 k euros. We use this machine from 2006, with 18 hours a day of work with LH-PLE Fuji plates and 300rpm. Machine works very fine!!!
    LOVE IT!

    Heidelberg Suprasetter Vs Kodak Trendsetter

My vote is for truly Kodak Trendsetter with Kodak Prinergy Evo or Kodak Connect. How ever for better judgement you may test the results Quality on Printing Press for the both Machines by taken plates out puts. Is Heidelberg offers Staccato Screening.

    Hardware

    Hi,
we are talking about hardware. Staccato is a named reticle owner of the respective manufacturer. Heidelberg offers many types of special reticles, and not targets of this discussion. Likewise it does not offer the Satin Screening from Heidelberg or Sublima from Agfa.

For me, Supprasetter is the best. the laser module work very stable. I knows that Heidelberg could warranty 7 year for Laser module. I love it't temperature conpensation by water that make the plate quality is good and stable.

    Heidelberg

I have some bad experience with Kodak... Heidelberg is better... less service, not locked for any plates...
Kodak, locked for Kodak plates, charging for unlocking, higher expenses for maintaince...
    Heidelberg is more reliable...

I have worked on Heidelberg Prosetter (violet), and Suprasetter (thermal). I have liked the Suprasetter better, very good machine. With the full workflow software from Heidelberg it is a excellent combination, a little more expensive dough. We did not have any major problems, but at the end we purchased an Lusher UV, because of the lower maintenance and operation costs.
