Differences between Agfa Avalon LF and Agfa Xcalibur 45

Anybody knows differences between Xcalibur and newer Avalon LF? I know, that the laser head in Xcalibur after 2004 is the same as in Avalon LF. Is Avalon LF thereby CTP only with changed name?

    Hello araram,

The Xcalibur Series and the old Avalon came from AGFA USA Wilmington and they closed this very good company
The Avalon N Series (N = New) is an DAI Nippon Screen OEM build for Agfa.

The old s Xcalibur, we had such an CTP System, has had many problems so we change to the Avalon CTP´s
I don´t think its the same Laser because with the X45 we had to change 5 times the complete Laser and with Avalon never since the last years running up to 300 Plates a day.
There was a Lasergeneration change from GLV Version 1 to 2 and the Avalons have Series 2 GLV Lasers.
Perhaps here is a technican who can better explain, because my profession is more in Software not in Hardware.
    Hope this will help you
Have also fun is this good forum
    Kind Regards
    MrApogee

Thank you very much for the information! I have info about Xcalibur heads from Agfa technician - for replace is the same partnumbers as for Avalon. In Avalon 2006-2007 model year of production on the nameplate written "Xcalibur 45" and at first glance they are identical. Therefore, there is a suspicion that the minor differences in hardware and both the CTP have interchangeable also other parts.

1- X45 E or S or XT they have more complex and unreliable electroics and Laser head
2- X45 XXT or AVALON LF , they are similar to each others , only the difference is in outlook this model is very reliable
