    My company use

    thermal plate + Luescher,
conventional positive plate + Luescher UV and
conventional negative plate + Basys UVSetter...

best result is with conventional negative and thermal plates but for cheep printing conventional plates is OK

    Thermal or violet ?

Thermal CTP or Violet CTP : bouth have advantages and disadvatages:
    - Thermal CTP have more acurascies and stable by comparision with violet especialy in screen dot 2-4 % and 96-99%. That why thermal ctp is good for high end printing.
And most importal is plates: to day there are many plate manufactures in the word , price is down and down, especialy many plate manufactures from China. That thermal plate has good price today.thermal ctp is easy to use.
    - The violet ctp has some adv. : the violet machines are more chipper and speed is very high, but the price of violet plate is not so good very high. There are only some violet plate manufactures.
    - We have PTR 8800 Z: it runs 4 years without problems. I think thermal ctp is best today

    Hi,

What brand of violet plates are you using? If your using Agfa, there 2 types of violet plate they are selling. If you are using Agfa N91V try to find N94 in your market, It is more stable and it depends also on the calibration of your plate specially your processor.

I think the thermal technology is better. Who manufacturer or brand is best? Thermal CTP.

    Thermal is the best

If you choose between violet and thermal... choose thermal...
we have thermal with monthly production of 2500 plates... with autoloader, developer and stacker... our daily record is 320 plates...
thermal plates are cheaper, more reliable than violet plates... many people have said that diodes are expensive... but this is not right... diodes last at least 200000 plates... thermal technology is everyday cheaper plates are cheaper day by day...
Violet plates production is smaller year by year... the plates will be more expensive... cheap machine can't be the reason...

We are using ALFA CTP and the violet ONYX processors, it is a bit expensive but it is fast and very few problems.

we are exposing and processing arround 6000 plates/month.
We are using(now) LPNV Fuji plates and we didn't had any problem for more than 2 years.
Ok... safe yellow light, very carreful with processing bath and temp variation..but now, after so many years, everything is very simple .

We are using 175 lpi for news, and 200 lpi for commercial and magazines.
Also, we can keep them on press arround 500-550k(baked).

You must see what kind of laser is in there, in first model heindelberg build into 5mJ laser after that he put 30mJ laser, if you have first generation of Prosetter that is what you get but if you have second you can use ctp plate from Fuji or... but you need developer with pre backing
