Well I think the general way to save ink (at least when it comes to typing) is to use less bold fonts, in addition to making sure you've revised/made corrections everything on whatever it is you're writing/making before you print. It's also good to print just what you need to print, especially if you're printing something from online.

i've always used 123inkcartridges.ca here in Canada. Been pretty cheap and the quality is comparable to the stock Epson ink

I've used the US 123inkcartridges site in the past. I've also taken to pricing how much printing costs at my local print shop (I have one a few blocks away, walking distance about 6 minutes) and found when it's 3-5 cents a page for 40 pages I'll end up saving, especially for quick b&w jobs, and even 25 cents for a full on color page (say for a D&D character sheet? :P) that's a bargain to me! I save the home printer for the quick and last minute and use the print shop for anything else.

An alternative would be to see if a CISS system is available and buy inks in bulk. Your overall cost per page will plummet to virtually nothing.

I have an Epson Workforce too and it seems like I go through ink quickly. I try and choose B&W whenever possible...
