Epson Pro 4900
Epson Pro 4900
i have an epson 9880
prints pretty well
epson 7880 with gmg software
Inca Spyder 320 and Spyder V - wide format UV flatbed's - possibly not what you were looking for but great at what they do! :)
HP DeskJet Pro 2100C
HP LaserJet 1300
It depends what is the purpose of the printer.
To print proofs for yourself "properly" you would need an Epson with original ink and Epson proofing paper. (spectrometer and a RIP software would also help)
For general color checking and a few color prints you could buy a slower bizhub machine with a fiery controller.
BH C450 an BH C351 in my area can be bought used for approx. 1000 euros
In this case an i1pro is recommended. As far as I know the Fiery software doesn't support any display spectrometers.
Oh and for any black and white printing for let's say proofreads a Laserjet 8150 is the beast - we use four and of them printed almost a million pages JUST at our print shop.
Anyway, in the print shop I use a Bizhub C7000 usually.
For smaller inkjet jobs an Epson R2880.
This is a beautifull printer.
12 inks, 5 BW !!!
No noise. Can eat thick paper.
Black and Glossy paper without bronzing and last long pigments inks.
Since you are a student, i highly recommend fedex/kinkos, it is a lot cheaper and doesn't take up any room haha. but if you need a quick and easy printer, just grab a cheap hp, the ink is really cheap and easy to come by, and when you are ready to print your finals just go to fedex/kinkos get a refillable print card. its easy and very cost affective.
am new in this field, but i think Epson 7900 is a great printer for proofing.
I do think it really depends on what sort of finished product you want right now. If you just need something for school projects, then any standard deskjet should have you covered. (Epson, HP, Canon) But I have seen a lot of great reviews of Epsons. Watch out for super cheap printers because they sometimes use not-so-cheap inks.
Konica Minolta bizhub C6000 at school.
But at home I trust in my Canon iP5200 inkjet which does also print duplex and thick stock. These printers are fairly cheap on eBay right now.
