The printers in the multimedia studio in my university's library are Xerox Phaser 7400s and they're pretty solid workhorses. Accurate color.

    Epsom Printer

Today for home use I purchased an Epsom XP 200 multifunction. Very easy setup and the wireles setup using the QSS button on my TP Link modem required nothing more than that. I have not tried the scanning or copying function yet but the print quality of a 6 x 4 photograph is excellent with the colour very true.

    Samsung

It probably depends on where you live, but Samsung lasers are a nice entry-level printers. I prefer black and white b/c you get the most value for your ink usage.

I adjust color with sampling in Photoshop. If anything is going to the print shop, I get a proof. Inkjets to me are the biggest my burners... but again, it all depends on why you need to print color at home or not.

Consider inkjet if you want to print colors, or laser black and white if you're sure you will print lots of research notes. Laser ink cartridges cost a lot, right?

I decided to choose HP Deskjet when I was on college. Still working fine till now
