Illustrator and myself have sort of a love/hate relationship! Some tasks are fairly simple and beneficial for me, but for the most part, it's a stressful experience for me every time. I chalk it up to lack of knowledge because I'm not very familiar with that particular part of the Creative Suite, so I try to learn and practice different projects to learn more about it! Hopefully it wont take too long to get accustomed to it!

I use it since 1989. A period in the 90's I liked Freehand better, but since the Macromedia merged with Adobe, Freehand is no more. I think AI some way has become too big, is has too much features - especially too much different features… But still it is the best vector drawing software.

Illustrator works best for my designs . Especially the vectorscribe plugin makes it so easy to draw beautiful vectors easily!

I find myself switching between quite a few of Adobe applications. Indesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator are what I find myself using most though.

Indesign for anything layout-wise, especially multiple-page items

Illustrator for vector artwork, Photoshop for raster graphics and anything the other two programs can't handle.

Illustrator's great, but I think Indesign doesn't get enough love. Depends what you work on, though, really.

I'm graphic designer, my specialisation is making Logo using vector graphic (illustrator), sometimes use InDesign for layouting magazine, since Illustrator has Artboard tool, I moved layouting to Illustrator :D

Now I only use 2 applications, Illustrator (mostttttt) and photoshop.

I used to be a Macromedia Freehand evangelist before. It was a natural progression to take the leap for illustrator.
Adobe it's simply ahead of it's competitors. Steadily became the industry standard swiss-knife of graphic designers. I still have one friend who preaches to Corel but in my opinion, it just feels pre-historic.

I was forced to start using Illustrator when Adobe discontinued FreeHand, which in my opinion was a far superior bit of software.

It took me about 2 years but now I am comfortable with Illustrator. I do still wish FreeHand was available though.
