Filezilla is an excellent choice for those who run both PCs and MACs. Simple and solid.

All of these are good suggestions. I've used Fetch and CyberDuck, and they both work well. If you're a student you can get a free license for Fetch. Lately I've just been using the FTP capability built into Espresso, the code editor I've been using. It does everything I need all in package.

Without a doubt and after having tried a lot of them: Yummy FTP.
It allowed to have FTP and SFTP, FTP alias on desktop to drag&Drop, FTP watchers, scheduling and many more options… The best pro version for me since many years!

I tend to use FlashFTP ftp client lately.

Has a pretty decent user interface + a transfer queue that is resumable(the queue) and if a particular file transfer fails it has an option to retry it automaticaly. AND it looks really simple and neat.

Also has the feature to remember all previous connections and quick-reconnect-history button.
If my post helped you somehow - hit the "Thanks" button :)

    I can't agree more
    Transmit:
+ awesome Interface, easy to use
    - not free (officially..)

    Cyberduck
    + totally free
    - Interface isn't quite as good as Transmit, but that that's just my opinion

also I think should add this to the list:

    Coda
it actually combines everything that a webdev needs (textedit, preview, supports projects and also FTP)
    - also not free (officially)

Post Forklift is almost perfect for me. Almost...

I've tried several clients - all of them have their own bugs/limitations.
FileZilla is almost perfect (is free!), but have a bug with Drag-n-Drop.
Transmit - very fast, but no multithread download.
    CyberDuck - only window - I want ! :)
Forklift - perfect, but no XML import (hosts listing) from other clients.
But Forklift - the best for me.

FileZilla Client is a fast and reliable cross-platform FTP, FTPS and SFTP client with lots of useful features and an intuitive graphical user interface.
It is Open source, I recommend it.
