Much better, more options and control.
Versaworks it's free with the printer and maybe enough for a inhouse printing.

Versaworks has a good time on file handlings and a fast rip/print timings.

It has an excelent halftone screen with error diffusion that removes every kind of printing errors or problems on the printheads.

Against it... color match. VW don't manage correcty graytones and the final prints have a color cast. And you only can use it with roland printers.

ColorGATE however works very well with the graytones and is a much more complete program and you can make your own profiles more acurate than VW.

that´s depends absolutly of what do you want to print.
Versaworks it´s more that enougth for the Rolands, print´s fine with all the models. But if you are interesting to work with more of one brand´s machines Colorgate it is really better; the control of the dot position are better, the gcr options works more fine by default, etc..
